This Week In Peace:The Kingdom of Outside

Hello! Welcome to This Week In Peace. Khalilah Ramirez here, writing to report the events and conditions observed during your local Dance of Peace performances around the city. The report this week begins with the Friday Dance of Peace at Roman Paradigm. It was warm  and bright. The beauty of this location is inspiring. There is a Redwood tree on my left, taller than the building itself. There is a plum tree on my right, just beginning to show pink blossoms. The sun and the crescent moon are both visible in the sky.

There are an unusually high number of ambulance and fire units passing by with their sirens on. Four vehicles over the span of one hour. The Dance of Peace yields to these skilled technicians by slowing down and gathering peace energy. The energy of peace is then directed towards them for safe high speed travel and for the swift recovery of the patients within. May the angels fly with you, dear fire and ambulance drivers!

The next day the Dance of  Peace was launched at San Carlos and Meridian streets in San Jose, this time in the last cold hour of sunlight for the day. Over the past few weeks, The Dance of Peace has been experimenting with a lighter load. That is, bringing less music along. Instead of six or seven selections, only three are chosen. These three are combed carefully for tunes and rhythm, thoroughly worked and repeated, then played again in a different sequence. This keeps things fresh by varying the pace and timing of the steps daily. Technical stuff! These experiments will continue! Now back to the peace report.

Peace findings originate with the divine source and my own consciousness. They are also revealed by the people around me in the world. There are times when the Dance of Peace does not produce smiles from onlooking citizens. There are faces that frown, project shock or just plain confusion. All reactions and facial expressions are considered natural and normal officially.  Yet, the spirit of peace can do things on its own that no peace dancer can do. It can go to work on the subconscious mind and inner heart of a person, even if they themselves do not detect it. Subtle changes may occur. Something as simple as thinking back on the unusual dancing that they saw on the street can make a person begin to wonder about peace. The spirit of divine peace is swift and mighty. It can pop up anywhere, at any time. The spirit of peace has the power to make strangers say hello to each other. It can make a person care about something without knowing how or why. We can access this power simply by putting our mental focus on it, any time we like.

The conclusion of the Dance of Peace this day brought a beautiful surprise. Upon leaving my post, I saw a small car packed with young folks in the parking lot. There were four boys in the back seat and two in the front, a snug fit in the compact car. These youth were calm and quiet. They did not appear to be doing anything but watching the Dance of Peace from the car windows. There was no music coming from the radio, no electronic gadgets in any hand. No food, drinks or smokes were in sight. Youth simply watching. This seems miraculous to me and as I contemplate this one of them asks, ” Why do you do this?” I show him my sign and tell him about the mission of peace in every heart. This must be done in 10 words or less because I am winded from the effort of endurance. Secretly, it is happiness to  be short of breath and sweating profusely at this time. This interests young people because they are unaccustomed to seeing uncomposed yet sober adults dancing vigorously outside. After a brief explanation, the same child asks, “So, it’s just for fun?”  “Well, not  JUST for fun, It’s for peace. It’s a spiritual work.” This resounds with him and a look of understanding touches his face. Another asks, “Where else do you dance? I haven’t seen you here in a long time.” Loving the fact that he remembered the Dance of Peace from ‘a long time ago’, I tell him about the other weekly times and locations  around our city. I thanked them greatly for saying hello and we part as friends. It is an immense and humble joy to talk with young people about peace, a concept which is simple yet rarely discussed in a practical manner. These young people stopped what they were doing to ask questions regarding peace. That is evidence to me of the spirit of peace at work. It is happiness to see all the amazing things that it does! Thank you and see you out there!
